About
A museum occupying the site of the Clink, a prison in Southwark that operated from the 12th century until 1780. Serving the Liberty of the Clink, a manor area owned by the Bishop of Winchester, it was possibly the oldest men's prison and probably the oldest women's prison in England. The name has become slang for prison or jail cell.
