About
A 17th-century banqueting house designed by Inigo Jones in Palladian style, built between 1619 and 1622 as part of the royal Palace of Whitehall. It features ceiling paintings by Peter Paul Rubens added in the 1630s and is now a Grade I listed national monument.
The Rubens ceiling paintings are impressive, and the Palladian architecture is elegant. Best for children aged 8+ interested in art and history. Not interactive or designed for young children. Limited opening hours (closed Fridays and Mondays) requires planning. Compact visit.
